Access takes an approach that is decentralized at is core. We believe that one of our competitive advantages is to successfully enable each operating business to run itself locally. In other words, each business is empowered to identify and respond quickly and effectively to changing market conditions as well as local customer needs. We believe, having been entrepreneurs and operators, that sales and distribution businesses operate at peak performance when this decentralized local operations approach is combined with the centralization of shared services (administrative, legal, etc.) that usually weigh down most sales and distribution businesses at the local level. In our experience, this weight on the shoulders of operators of sales, marketing, service, and distributions businesses prevents such businesses from maximizing results, but it also creates many moments of displeasure with the people on the ground locally.
